The letter that was writen to Gerneral Arnold this was the following. The first bomb which is will be ready from anyday from Augest 1 to the tenth this bomb will be a gun type of bomb. Hiroshima, Kokura, Niigata and Nagasaki are the following targets for the bombing each having something impotant in the city. Hiroshima with a population of 350,000 people also known as the Army city. Kokura with a population 178,000 people has the largest army arsenals and ordenece work and also has the largest railroad shops on Kyushu. Niigata with a population of 150,000 people Niigata has very important industrial buildings and have building machine tools and deisel engines, it also a main port for shipping to the mainlands. Nagasaki (population 210,000) is a major shipping and industrial center of Kyushu. All of the following city's have been choosen because there are important politacal figures and buildings that is why they were choosen. The attack will be planned but also may vary by the weather so they are hoping for a good forcast. On the master airplane is where the bomb will be carried accompined by two other projects B-29's and an observer and some other special instruments. Three B-29's will be take off to North Field Tinian, and fly by Iwo Jima. The fighters escort will be decided by Gerneral Spaatz. The bomb will be dropped from 2,000 feet.
